TOMI SWICK SIGNS ON For immediate release Wednesday November 22, 2006 Hot on the heels of his just completed tour of Canada opening for the Goo Goo Dolls, it has been announced that Warner Music Canada recording artist Tomi Swick will be heading back out across the country in February performing with the Barenaked Ladies. The tour, which begins on January 31, 2007 in Victoria, B.C., will see the bands playing hockey arenas in 17 Canadian markets ending on February 26, 2007 at Mile One Stadium in St. John’s Newfoundland. Of Tomi’s performances with the Goo Goo Dolls, critics and fans wrote: "Thanks to edgy alternative electro-pop and feisty lyrics, songs such as Easy Company, A Night Like This and Everything is Alright seemed to have so much more to say…” - Ottawa Sun “Opening act Tomi Swick, however, offered one surprise after another, at first sounding like the Verve, then Bryan Adams, and then David Gray. And just when you thought you had his style pegged, he came out of left field with a cover of Paul Simon's "Graceland." With a strong voice and energetic performance, the Hamilton native showed his scope and talent, and proved he could hold his own as a headliner. - Regina Leader Post “This incredibly talented young man has a voice that alternates between sounding like Bryan Adams and Tom Cochrane -- two other great Canadians. The group that I was with was suitably impressed with his vocals and talents -- so much so that at the break between his performance and that of the Goo Goo Dolls, we dutifully purchased more than one copy of his CD.” - Letter written to the Editor, Winnipeg Free Press The Hamilton, Ontario native’s debut album Stalled Out In the Doorway, has already garnered the Top 5 radio hit “A Night Like This” and the Top 10 single “Everything Is Alright.” The album’s third single, “Sorry Again” has just entered the Top 40 of Hot AC Radio in Canada. On Sunday November 19, 2006 Tomi won 3 Hamilton Music Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year, Best Male Artist and the Hamilton Spectator new Artist of the Year. Tomi had led the nominations along with Sarah Harmer with 5 each. The awards were handed out in a ceremony held at the Dofasco Centre for the Arts.
